Version 1.2 · Effective 30 September 2026

Read this before you use Swasthy. It is short, and it matters.

1. Call 102 in an emergency

Swasthy is not an emergency service. Do not use it if you need urgent help.

Call 102 for an ambulance, or go straight to the nearest hospital emergency department, if there is:

If you are not sure whether it is an emergency, treat it as one. It is always better to be seen.

If you report a symptom that may be an emergency, the app warns you and offers to call 102. It may not spot every emergency, so do not wait for a warning. You can still continue, but a doctor's review is not emergency care and may take several minutes. If in doubt, call 102 first.

2. Swasthy connects you to a doctor; Swasthy is not the doctor

Swasthy is a technology platform. It is not a hospital, a clinic or a medical practitioner, and it does not practise medicine.

The consultation is provided by an independent Registered Medical Practitioner registered with the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council. That doctor exercises their own clinical judgement and holds professional responsibility for the diagnosis and prescription they issue.

3. Artificial intelligence does not diagnose you

Swasthy uses AI to transcribe what you say, translate it, organise your symptoms, suggest which kind of doctor should see you (you can change it), look for signs of an emergency, and prepare a draft assessment and draft prescription for the doctor. If the doctor asks, it also suggests tests.

The AI does not diagnose you. It does not prescribe. It cannot.

Every prescription is read, amended where the doctor thinks it necessary, and signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner who takes responsibility for it. AI-generated text that has not been reviewed and signed by a doctor is not medical advice and should not be acted on.

Like all AI, ours can be wrong. That is precisely why a doctor reviews everything before it reaches you.

4. A teleconsultation has real limits

A doctor consulting remotely cannot:

Because of this, teleconsultation is well suited to some problems and poorly suited to others. Your doctor will tell you when you need to be seen in person, and you should act on that advice. A recommendation to attend in person is not a failure of the consultation; it is the consultation working correctly.

5. The consultation is only as good as what you tell us

The doctor sees what you tell us in this consultation, your saved health profile (conditions, allergies, medicines, past hospital stays, uploaded documents) and earlier Swasthy consultations with that same doctor. A follow-up or lab report review also shows the doctor the diagnosis and date of the consultation it follows. They cannot see records held by other doctors or hospitals, or examine you. Keep your profile up to date and give a full account every time.

A full account means your symptoms, your medical history, everything you are currently taking including over-the-counter medicines and traditional or herbal remedies, and every allergy you know of. Omitting a medicine or an allergy can lead to a dangerous interaction.

Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, by writing it in your symptom description, even if the app has already asked you.

6. What is prescribed, and what cannot be

Doctors on Swasthy prescribe only medicines permitted for teleconsultation under the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020.

Schedule X drugs and drugs on the Prohibited List cannot be prescribed by teleconsultation under Indian law. This includes narcotics, psychotropics and other habit-forming medicines. They require an in-person consultation. Doctors on Swasthy may not prescribe them by teleconsultation, and the app blocks the medicines on those lists that it recognises. Asking for them will not change that.

A prescription is issued for the specific episode of illness described, for the person described. Do not reuse it for a later illness, and do not give it to anyone else.

7. Follow the advice, and come back if things change

Take medicines exactly as prescribed and complete the course, particularly with antibiotics.

Seek care promptly if:

Stop the medicine and seek urgent care if you have signs of a severe allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips or tongue, difficulty breathing, or a spreading rash with faintness.

8. This is not a continuing doctor-patient relationship

A Swasthy consultation covers the episode you presented. It does not create a continuing relationship with the doctor, and it does not replace a regular physician who knows your history.

If you have a chronic condition, keep seeing the doctor who manages it. Tell them about any consultation you have here and any medicine prescribed.

9. No guarantee of outcome

Medicine is not certain. No doctor and no platform can guarantee a diagnosis, a cure or a particular outcome. Swasthy does not promise that a consultation will resolve your problem.

10. Nothing in the app is general medical advice

Health tips, articles and educational content in the app are for information only. They are not tailored to you and are not medical advice. Do not act on them in place of a consultation.
